My name is Mark Pinhey. I own and operate Pinhey Home Design in lower Sackville, near Halifax, Nova Scotia. I do custom home design for contractors and private clients. Some local contractors here have asked me to do plans for their model show homes that they are building in subdivsions. Their designs are archived at my office. They may send clients my way and I do their home plans and they can go back to the contractor for quotes. For this service I charge an hourly rate of $65.00 per hour, and require a $500.00 deposit upon signing contract. Preliminary drawings that I send to clients and the builder can be faxed or emailed to reduce the time spent in meetings and travelling. This has worked very well. We meet after preliminary drawings are done and several times to do all revisions. When client is happy with the design, the drawings are ready to go out to contractors for quotes. I will invoice for time spent up this point on the project. If there are any more revisions to plans after quotes are back an Invoice will be issed for number of hours spent on the revisions and payment will be due upon receipt of drawings. I prefer the clients to bring along a contractor they know or recommended to them to give them preliminary costing to make sure they are within their budget while in the design stage. 3d renderings can be done but usually take some extra setup time. I will usually produce one for a better pictorial view of the new home. Please give me a call or send email if you have any questions.
